Meet Our Coaches
Mel Mason
HEAD COACH
With over 20 years of coaching experience across the UK, USA and now Australia, Mel brings world-class, professional standards to the heart of Geelong West. Her boutique approach focuses on building a warm, vibrant community where local players and families can thrive through personalised guidance and a shared passion for the game. Having been scouted in primary school at age 9, Mel had her whole playing career sponsored and played at international level throughout her junior career, including time spent in Texas playing Div 1 college tennis, before returning to the UK to complete her honours degree in one of Europe's leading tennis scholarship programmes at the University of Stirling.
Â
Mel loves to spread her passion of the game and has set her sights on bringing Geelong West Tennis Club to life, giving Geelong West the community tennis hub it so greatly deserves! Prior to this, Mel was Head Coach at a club back in Glasgow, Scotland for 4 years before moving to Geelong with her young family.

Mel is also a certified Pilates instructor and in the warmer months will be running pop up Tennis / Pilates sessions and events at the club.
Evie Ryan
Assistant junior coach
Evie started playing tennis when she was 7 years old, with her grandpa taking her to courts every week for a hit. She started playing competitions when she was 11 and still plays senior comp now in Geelong and Melbourne. Evie started coaching 4 years ago and has come on board with MM Tennis now to assist with Red, Orange and Green ball classes. Evie is also studying at Deakin University. We love having Evie part of our team and her warm, welcoming energy on court!
Ellie Mckenzie
assistant junior coach
Having played tennis since she was 8 years old, Ellie has developed a strong passion for the sport and enjoys sharing that with younger players. She has been part of local competition for many years, playing in tournaments and having represented Geelong in AJP Pennant Competition, gaining valuable experience in competitive tennis. Ellie enjoys giving back to the sport and helping young players develop their tennis skills, confidence and enjoyment of the game. Ellie works with our Red and Orange ball players, ensuring they have a great time on court whilst learning the fundamentals in a fun, energetic environment!
Eliza Dalley
ASSISTANT JUNIOR COACH
Eliza began playing tennis at 4 years old when she joined a local Hotshots progam. She started competing at age 9 and has continued playing competitively ever since! Eliza began her coaching journey volunteering through the Duke of Edinburgh program with Mel Mason Tennis and has recently completed her Trainee Coaching Course which we are so proud of! Eliza loves working with our Red and Orange ball players and spreading her love of the game.
